HOW TO

How to use

  1. Choose vs AI or 2 players. Against the AI, pick Easy, Normal or Hard.
  2. Click or tap an empty square, press number keys 1โ€“9 (numpad layout), or move with the arrow keys and press Enter.
  3. Line up three in a row across, down or diagonally to win and a line is drawn through them. A full board is a draw.
  4. Press Play again or Enter for the next game. The first move alternates every game.

Is the Hard AI really unbeatable?

Yes. Hard uses the minimax algorithm to look ahead through every remaining move, so it never loses. Tic-tac-toe always ends in a draw when both sides play perfectly, so a draw is the best you can do against Hard.

What's the difference between Easy and Normal?

Easy plays a random empty square. Normal usually plays the best move but picks a random one about 30% of the time, so it makes the occasional mistake.

How does 2-player mode work?

Player 1 (โœ•) and Player 2 (โ—‹) take turns on the same device. There's no online multiplayer.

Are my stats saved?

Wins, draws and losses for each difficulty, your best win streak against the AI and 2-player results are saved in this browser. You can clear them with Reset records.
