Interest is rounded down to the cent. Banks differ in how they calculate interest (daily compounding, deposit dates, APY vs. APR), so your actual balance may differ slightly. Interest is often taxable income, so check your own tax situation.

FAQ

FAQ

Why do monthly savings earn less than the stated rate?

Each deposit only earns interest from the month it goes in, so money added near the end barely earns anything. The rate applies to each deposit, not your whole total from day one.

Should I enter a tax rate?

It's optional. Interest is often taxed as income, so enter your own rate if you want an after-tax estimate, or leave it at 0.

Why might my bank show a different number?

Banks may compound daily, quote APY instead of APR, or count from your actual deposit dates, so treat this as a close estimate.
