HOW TO

How to use

  1. Each level starts by briefly showing the finished gradient. Memorize the flow of colors (tap the board to start right away).
  2. Once the tiles are shuffled, drag one tile onto another or tap two tiles in turn to swap them. Dotted tiles are fixed, so use them as guides.
  3. When every tile is in place, a ripple runs across the board. The closer you finish to GOAL (the minimum swaps), the more stars you get.
  4. Stuck? Hold Peek to see the solved layout, and open Levels to replay any unlocked level and beat your record.

FAQ

FAQ

What does the GOAL number mean? Can I finish in fewer?

GOAL is the theoretical minimum number of swaps needed to undo the shuffle when any two tiles can be swapped, so you can't finish in fewer. Matching GOAL earns 3 stars; within 1.25× GOAL + 2 earns 2.

Can a shuffle be unsolvable?

No. Fixed tiles stay put and only the other tiles are swapped during the shuffle, so swapping can always bring back the original gradient.

How are the gradient colors made?

Four corner colors are chosen and interpolated evenly across and down in the OKLab color space, which is designed to match how people perceive color differences, so neighboring tiles feel evenly spaced. Higher levels grow from 4×5 to 10×12 and the steps between colors get smaller.

Is my game saved?

Your current board (layout, moves and time), unlocked levels and best records are auto-saved in this browser (localStorage), so you can reload and carry on. They don't carry over to other devices or private windows.
